Overview
Ofsted plays a very important part in the further education and skills system and an inspection can be a major make or break event. Understanding how Ofsted looks at things, its latest thinking, and where its concerns lie is important for all of us.

This conference will provide an overview of Ofsted’s annual state of the nation report together with the opportunity to explore in more depth some key areas through workshop sessions led by HMI. The workshops are designed to highlight key areas and to provide insights into how improvements can be made based on inspection experience. Mathematics and English are crucial areas where there is a rapidly changing policy agenda, and where there are particular challenges for those working with apprentices. Similarly, it is important to understand the various forms that teaching can take and what good practice looks like. The final workshop will look at things from the employer’s perspective.

Delegates will also hear from providers and employers who have made the grade. There will also be a more general Q and A session with the opportunity to ask about the implications of the proposed changes to inspection amongst other things.
