Ofsted continues to play a very important part in the further education and skills system. Inspection can be a major 'make or break' event. Understanding how Ofsted looks at things, its latest thinking, and where its concerns lie, is important for all of us.

As before, this event will provide an overview of Ofsted's annual state of the nation report and will also give delegates the chance to question Ofsted.

The event will have focus on key proposals of the new CIF which comes into force in September 2019 and it has been specifically designed to take account of how provision differs in FE and skills.

Chaired by AELP’s Paul Warner, we will hear from Paul Joyce HMI, Ofsted's Deputy Director for Further Education and Skills, Mark Dawe, AELP’s Chief Executive as well as Danny Taylor from Smart Apprentices.

Other speakers include Dr Chris Jones HMI, Ofsted, Julie Ridley, Weir Training and Kerry Boffey, ALIN with more HMIs to be confirmed.


Workshops

There will be 3 different workshops each delivered twice, so delegates will choose 2 workshops to attend over the day. Each workshop will be delivered by an Ofsted HMI and include key messages in the annual report, expectations, what inspection tells us and emerging issues/concerns. Topics include: Apprenticeships, Subcontracting and Evaluating learner progress.
