Event Overview
Over the next few years, the FE and skills landscape is going to experience significant change – both in terms of the programmes that are delivered and the types of organisations that deliver them. Many organisations in the sector have already recognised the need to change and adapt – a change that often starts by reviewing the organisation’s leadership. However, rather than appointing new leaders from within the sector, a growing number of FE Colleges and large training providers have looked outside of the sector to recruit senior staff.

Funded by the FE Trust for Leadership, AELP and 157 Group have been conducting research among these new recruits to identify their thinking and approaches as leaders, and how these can be shared more broadly with other sector leaders.

As such, in October AELP will be hosting three complimentary round-table events for leaders, focusing on how organisations can maximise the talent in leadership thinking recruited from outside of the FE and skills sector, and how fresh leadership approaches can be shared more broadly.

Within a confidential environment, leaders recently recruited from outside the FE and skills sector will meet in the morning to share their thinking and experiences of operating in the FE and skills sector. Established sector leaders will arrive for lunch, followed by a joint session – allowing the themes from the morning to be presented, with space for all participants to reflect, respond and debate.

The round-tables will allow attendees to develop new thinking and practice to better equip them for staff and organisational leadership in the new landscape.

Who can attend?
Attendees need to be in a senior management position at an FE and skills provider (FE College, independent training provider, third sector training provider, etc.), and will either be:

• A new leader, having been recruited from a different industry within the last two years
• An established leader who has operated in the FE and skills sector for several years

Delegate fees
This event has been funded by FE Trust for Leadership and there is therefore no charge to attend.
