The main entrance is on Lower Byrom Street. This takes you straight into the Great Western Warehouse and to the information desk.

The corner of Water Street and Liverpool Road is currently closed for maintenance, but you can still access our car park via Quay Street or New Quay Street.

Arriving by train

Our nearest railway station is Deansgate, which you can get to via Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Oxford Road railway stations.

Whether your train into the city takes you to Manchester Victoria, Manchester Oxford Road or Manchester Piccadilly, you can get to the venue on foot, or by taking the free Metroshuttle city bus.

Arriving by free city bus (Metroshuttle)

The free Metroshuttle number 2 bus (green line) stops right outside the museum on Lower Byrom Street, however all 3 Metroshuttle services stop nearby on Byrom Street in Spinningfields.

Arriving by tram (Metrolink)

The nearest Metrolink stop is Deansgate-Castlefield, which is serviced by all tram routes EXCEPT for:

Bury – Abraham Moss (blue line)
Cornbrook – MediaCityUK (brown line)

If you're travelling into the city from the motorway, head towards Manchester and look out for the brown tourist signs directing you to the Museum of Science & Industry.

Car parking

The car park is open from 8.30am - 6pm Monday to Friday, and from 9.50am - 6pm on Saturday and Sunday. We charge £4.50 for the day.

Disabled car parking
There are 2 spaces for Blue Badge holders on Lower Byrom Street next to our main entrance, and limited unreserved parking for Blue Badge holders in our car park.
